I happened to read some parts of the bible this morning where the Pharisees contend that the Messiah could not come out of Galilee; that he is to be born in Bethlehem - a seed of David. With all these attention to details, one could say that the Pharisees also believed the maxim quoted above.
So if you draw so much water by details, shouldn't you know:
1. what those details are supposed to be; and
2. what those details are in reality?
The Pharisees having searched the scriptures "seem" to know point 1 above very well, but did they take the pains to find out in detail about
point 2? No they didn't. Maybe they didn't want to - because they feared they
would lose their elevated position as the mouthpiece of God if the Messiah were
to come? They seem to assume that since Christ grew up in Nazareth in Galilee,
then he must have "come" from there.
Did they look further than the fact that he was born of Joseph (a carpenter) and
Mary (John 7:41-42) No they didn't.*
Did they take pains to find out about his lineage, indeed going back as far as David
to see if there was any link between them? No they did not.
So in many ways, they were real hypocrites just like Jesus described them (see
bible quotes, about favouring d best places and greetings in d market). In
reality, all they cared about was protecting their "favoured" seats
and positions in society, and not about the freedom of their people. After all,
the one-eyed man is King in the country of the blind. To them, it would seem
better to be rulers among the oppressed (especially with all its perks) than to
be just like the next person. The evil they knew was better than the good they
did not)
Jesus is Christ.
Jesus is Lord
Jesus comes quickly and His reward is with him to give unto everyone according to the works of his/her hand (see bible quotes in Rev)
*can anything good come out of Galilee*
John 7:41-42 - "Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall
Christ come out of Galilee? Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of
the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?"
